Plain-language answers about what we collect, why, and the promises we keep.

My Family Signal ("we", "us", "our") makes an app that lets people you trust ring your phone, see a device's location, and confirm when a phone has been found. This policy explains what personal information we handle and the choices you have. We designed the app to collect as little as possible and to keep you in control.
When you create an account we collect a phone number and/or email address used to sign in, plus a display name you choose. We may store authentication credentials such as passkeys or verification codes to keep your account secure.
To deliver a ring reliably we store device push tokens, device type and operating system, battery level, and online/offline status for the devices you pair.
If you enable location sharing, we process the approximate or precise location of your device so paired contacts you have approved can see it. Location is only collected when sharing is switched on.
We collect limited diagnostic and usage information (for example, that a ring was sent or failed) to keep the service reliable. We do not build advertising profiles.
We do not use your information to serve third-party ads, and we do not sell your personal or location data.
Location sharing in My Family Signal is opt-in and mutual. You decide whether to share at all, and with which paired contacts. The people who can see your location are always visible to you, and you can pause or revoke sharing at any time in the app. We store location only as long as needed to provide the feature, and prefer to keep only a short, recent window rather than a long history.
We share information only in these limited ways:
We never sell your data and never share it with data brokers.
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Location data is kept only briefly to power live features. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems, and notify your paired contacts that you have left.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
My Family Signal is intended for use by adults and by family members set up by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by your local law without appropriate parental involvement. If you believe a child has provided us data improperly, contact us and we will remove it.
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable cloud infrastructure to safeguard your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data and to limit how much we hold in the first place.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
